About the Director

Michelle Maidenberg

Michelle P. Maidenberg, Ph.D., MPH, LCSW-R, CGP, is President and Clinical Director of Westchester Group Works. She is currently an adjunct professor at New York University (NYU) Silver School of Social Work teaching a course in Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment.  She received her Ph.D. from Yeshiva University, her Masters degree in Clinical Social Work from NYU, her Masters degree in Public Health from Hunter College, and also attended a two-year training program in marital and family therapy at SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn. In addition, she recently received training in a Buddhist approach to psychology at The Bedford Post Inn and advanced Cognitive Behavioral Training at the Beck Institute.

Dr. Maidenberg previously worked as clinical supervisor and clinician at the Larchmont Mamaroneck Community Counseling Center, an adjunct professor at Fordham University and Yeshiva University, and as assistant professor at Iona College.

She is a consultant for Fordham University's Children's FIRST where she trains practitioners to work with families. She also volunteers for the Sexual Assault Violence Intervention Program (SAVI) at Mount Sinai Medical Center where she provides psychotherapeutic treatment to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence.  Dr. Maidenberg is a contributing editor for The GROUP Journal.  She is on the Board of The Westchester Group Psychotherapy Society (WGPS) and chairs the Program Committee.  She is also the past Chair of the Nursery School Board at Beth-El Nursery School in New Rochelle and is currently serving as a Board Member.

Dr. Maidenberg maintains a private practice in Harrison, NY offering treatment to individuals, couples and families, groups, and private supervision. She is a published author and frequently speaks on issues relevant to group work with all populations, socialization and social skills, health and wellness, anxiety and depression, assertive training, anger management, and trauma.

Dr. Maidenberg is President and founder of “Thru My Eyes” (www.ThruMyEyes.org), a nonprofit organization that offers free clinically guided videotaping to individuals who have chronic life threatening illnesses who want to leave legacies for their children and loved ones.
